Certo Ristorante Bar is an icon of Kreis 4, know for its delicious italian food and al fresco dining during the beautiful Zürich summer. Can I be certain to find a good espresso here? I dusted off my high heels and trekked down an icy path to find out.
Atmosphere: La Dolce Vita. This place is embossed with italian vintage, from the Sofia Loren eyes piece, to the beautiful long wooden tables and the comfy antique green arm chairs. What you won’t be able to miss is the elegant red ‘affettatrice’ which provides delicate slices of fresh parma ham and mortadella. Buonissimo! Unfortunately, this time I wasn’t there for the food. Time to focus on tasting the espresso, and being interviewed by 20 Minuten journalist Deborah Sutter 🙂
Espresso rating: 3.0 out of 5
The espresso at Certo may be translating the era of ‘La Dolce Vita’ into a very delicate, relaxed tazzina rather than bold, short and strong one. It is similar to what I would achieve from my Bialetti Moka on a dolce vita day. The percentage of Arabica beans found in the coffee blend may also be contributing – Caffe Perla Mora from Switzerland’s very own Werner Ledderman. I was hoping to see a little ‘dolce’ like an amaretto or chocolate alongside the espresso. Something nice to add for the future 🙂
Free water: Yes.
Kid friendly: Yes there is space.
Thank you to Deborah for the great chat! Also to the Certo staff – grazie per il vosto accoglienza e gentilezza.
